Tripod User Day 2011: September 13
With 150 people attending, this year’s Tripod User Day has been a huge success. Inside the illustrious building of the Beurs van Berlage, the audience was treated to a high quality program.
After the welcoming words from AdviSafe’s GM Jan Hinrichs and this year’s TUD chairman Willem Peuscher, the day started out with a presentation of Ir. Arjan van Dijk, VP Safety Shell. He informed the group of the developments within the Stichting Tripod Foundation (STF) and its goals for the future. This presentation was followed by Prof.dr. Margriet Sitskoorn, who provided a lively presentation about the clinical decision making and learning process within the human brain. The morning was concluded by a performance of dr. Jop Groeneweg. He provided more background and insights into how Tripod Beta has been used to identify effective behavioural interventions within Shell by implementing the Life Saving Rules.
In between the plenary sessions, the group split up into the 12 parallel sessions that were being held in the Veilingzaal and Keurzaal. The parallel sessions clearly encouraged the dialogue around learning from incidents from different perspectives, which was evident during the lunch break. The break also opened opportunities to try out the software tools e.g. Tripod Delta, Tripod Beta, SIM, BowTie XP and Investigator 3. The sponsors CGE Risk Management, the Stichting Tripod Foundation and the Energy Institute were represented with a stand and available to answer questions.
Treated with some delicious sandwiches and salads the group entered the plenary hall for the afternoon session. Prof.dr. Ben Ale offered some food for thought explaining case based Tripod Beta analyses. His presentation was followed by a duo presentation of Sveinung Lofthus and Tore Knudsen. This energetic case study presentation revealed the powerful combination of Tripod Beta & Delta application in upgrading the safety performance of Seadrill. The day was concluded by an interactive panel session including most of the plenary speakers.
