The Pharos Group was named after the Pharos of Alexandria, a tower built in the third century B.C. in Egypt. It served as a landmark for the city of Alexandria and later became its lighthouse. With a height of some 150 meters it was the highest man-made structure on earth in its time and was identified as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
